3rd DISTINGUISHED LECTURE «Stelios Orphanoudakis»

On Friday, 18 March 2011, at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research & Technology (IMS-FORTH) in Rethymnon, the architect Manolis Korres, Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and restoration coordinator of the Parthenon at the Acropolis, gave the 3rd Lecture in the context of "Stelios Orphanoudakis" Distinguished Lecture series. This year, the Lecture was in the area of Humanities, and was entitled:

"The Doric Temple. An Exemplar Morphogenesis"

The speaker riveted the large audience at the lecture hall of the IMS-FORTH. Architects, professors from the University of Crete and the Technical University of Crete, many residents of Rethymnon and Heraklion, as well as several students attended a two-hour history of ancient architecture through the example of the Doric order. This "virtual" tour of the archaeological evidence and the historiography of architecture were accompanied by numerous slides that enriched the high-quality speech of the speaker.
