In 1957 he began working for the cinema industry and more specifically for Jules Dassin as assistant director on the film Celui qui doit mourir (He Who Must Die) and went on to direct some fifty films (1958-1989). At the same time, he wrote song lyrics, which were set to music by leading composers, such as Mikis Theodorakis, Yannis Markopoulos, Kostas Hatzis and Giorgos Hatzinasios, and had a passion for poetry, publishing one poetry collection and leaving behind an extensive body of unpublished work.
