Prof. Christos Tarantilis, President of the Special Permanent Committee on Research and Technology of the Hellenic Parliament, visited FORTH
Professor Christos Tarantilis, President of the Special Permanent Committee on Research and Technology of the Hellenic Parliament visited FORTH on Monday 5/12. He met with FORTH’s President, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis and the members of the Board of Directors, and was informed extensively about the Foundation's activities and future development plans.
Mr. Tarantilis was impressed by his visit to the research laboratories, and the high level of research carried out at FORTH. He was also given a tour of the facilities of the Science and Technology Park of Crete and visited FORTH’s start-ups and spin-off companies. Mr. Tarantilis showed particular interest in the problems they are dealing with and any possible solutions proposed, as well as the ways they take advantage of the financial tools offered by the State. He expressed the opinion that such ecosystems, of highly innovative companies, are this country’s hope to develop, and need to be promoted, highlighting their excellent research staff. Mr Tarantilis also visited the Crete University Press, an awarded publishing house and the only one founded by a research center in Greece, which operates under the umbrella of FORTH.
