Dimitris Vlassopoulos, Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Technology of the Unversity of Crete and Affiliated Faculty Members of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), has been elected to receive the Bingham Medal of the Society of Rheology of the USA for 2019

PRAXI Network, a unit of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), was awarded an UNESCO Chair on Futures Research. The granting of an UNESCO Chair provides access to a global network of universities and research institutions, focusing on Foresight and Futures Literacy.

A workshop with the participation of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) and all the companies comprising the Efthymiadis Agrotechnology Group was held with great success in Heraklion, Crete, on the subject of : "The prospects for the exploitation of research results in the field of agri-food through the collaboration between the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) and the Efthymiadis Agrotechnology Group"
FORTH participates in a research program which aims to develop intelligent metasurfaces with programmable electromagnetic behavior, the HyperSurfaces.

The VISORSURF research project, coordinated by the Foundation for Research and Technology and funded by the EU, aims to produce a first-of-its kind material, the HyperSurface, which can sense electromagnetic waves impinging upon it and alter them in ways dictated by software.
