The research project TransForm, where the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Ressearch and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) acted as the coordinator, has recently been completed. TransForm was a project funded by the European Commission in the context of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network Action. The project contributed significantly to building the theoretical underpinning for the design and analysis of Transactional Memory (TM) systems.The ceremony of the 2013 Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching "Vassilis XANTHOPOULOS - Stephanos PNEVMATIKOS"

Prof. Stelios Tzortzakis from the IESL-FORTH has been invited to officially open the Optics 2013 conference in St. Petersburg last October with a plenary lecture, followed by a short ceremony where he was awarded the Rozhdestvensky Medal of the Russian Optical Society for key contributions in strong laser and THz field Optics. The Medal was delivered by the Russian Academician E. B. Alexandrov.FORTH and Forthnet collaborate in the MESH-WISE project for the development of heterogeneous self-organising Wireless Mesh Networks
