Workshop on Computational Intelligence in Remote Sensing and Astrophysics organized at FORTH

Jul 12, 2019

The FORTH Institutes of Computer Science (ICS) and Astrophysics (IA), in cooperation with the Institute of Research into the Fundamental Laws of the Universe of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), are organizing the 2019 Workshop on Computational Intelligence in Remote Sensing and Astrophysics (CIRSA) on 17-19 July 2019 at FORTH.

The CIRSA workshop will focus on cutting edge Artificial Intelligence approaches for addressing the challenges associated with the analysis of the vast amount of observations acquired by modern instruments, targeting both the case of Earth Observation as well as deep space imaging. The workshop is built on a decade-long collaboration between FORTH and CEA, supported by numerous European funded projects.

The workshop will feature a number of talks from prominent researchers from the USA and Europe including Dr. Shirley Ho, Center for Computational Astrophysics, NY; Prof. Enrico Magli, Politecnico di Torino; Prof. Begüm Demir, TU Berlin; Dr. Anais Möller, CNRS; Prof. Konstantinos Karantzalos, NTUA; Dr. Haris Kontoes and Dr. Athanasios Rontogiannis, NOA, among others.

On Wednesday, 17th of July (12:00-13:00) the distinguished scientist Dr. Jean-Luc Starck(,Director of Research at CEA-Saclay (France) will give a public speech entitled: “Compressed Sensing: from Cosmology to Magnetic Resonance Imaging” at FORTH Amphitheater “G.Lianis”.
