The «13th Scientific Retreat», of the Foundation for Research & Technology - Hellas (FORTH) will take place on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 July 2022 at FORTH premises in Heraklion, including a festive event on Saturday, and a 3-day exhibition of FORTH innovative technologies (15-17 July), together with, an art exhibition showcasing the diverse talents of FORTH members, at the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion. The main objective of the Retreat, which is organized biennially in one of the cities hosting FORTH Institutes, is to provide the framework for scientific interactions between the research laboratories of FORTH, for oral and poster presentations of research PIs, postdocs and graduate students and discussions on interdisciplinary projects enabling exploration of synergy opportunities.

The Technical Program of the Retreat includes:

• Presentation of FORTH by the Chair of the Board of Directors
• Presentation of FORTH Institutes and Units by their Directors
• Keynote lectures from invited speakers in "Good Health-Well Being, Climate-Environment-Energy-Sustainability, Cultural Heritage & Education and Biomedicine"
• Interdisciplinary sessions with presentations from FORTH researchers from various Institutes on innovative research carried out at the Foundation
• Poster presentations by graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and PIs of research activities of various FORTH laboratories and facilities that provide the basis for fruitful discussions and interactions towards synergies.

Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion

The festive event of the 13th Scientific FORTH Retreat will take place in the evening of Saturday, 16 July at the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion. The session will include a presentation of FORTH by Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the Board of Directors, a talk by Prof. Athanasios Kyriazis, General Secretary for Research & Innovation, an invited lecture by Prof. Stathis Kalyvas, Gladstone Professor of Government, Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford and the ceremony for the 2022 FORTH Employee Awards.
