Two researchers of FORTH listed among the “Highly Cited Researchers 2025”, by the internationally recognized organization Clarivate

Prof. Alexandros Stamatakis, head of the Biodiversity Computing Group (BCG) at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of FORTH, and Prof. Athanasios Nenes, Affiliated Scientist at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) of FORTH are included in the internationally recognized list of “Highly Cited Researchers” for 2025, compiled by Clarivate Analytics based on the “Web of Science” database.This list is published annually and highlights scientists whose publications consistently rank among the most frequently cited worldwide (top 1%), and represents an important honorary distinction. Of the world’s population of scientists, Highly Cited Researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their fields of research are 1 in 1,000.

NASA's IXPE Solves Mystery of X-Ray Creation in Black Holes

Recent publication in Astrophysical Journal Letters: New findings by an international team of astrophysicists, based on data collected by IXPE, have revealed the mechanism that creates the bright X-ray radiation, which is associated with the extremely powerful plasma jets that erupt from supermassive black holes.

Πρόσκληση Εκδήλωσης Ενδιαφέροντος για την πλήρωση θέσεων της Επιτροπής Ισότητας των Φύλων και Καταπολέμησης των Διακρίσεων (ΕΙΦΚΔ) του Ιδρύματος Τεχνολογίας και Έρευνας ( Ι.Τ.Ε.)

Οι ενδιαφερόμενοι/ες καλούνται να υποβάλουν την υποψηφιότητα τους για την ΕΙΦΚΔ του ΙΤΕ, υποβάλλοντας αίτηση συνοδευόμενη από το βιογραφικό τους στο οποίο να περιγράφεται όποια εμπειρία/ εμπειρογνωμοσύνη σε θέματα ισότητας φύλων και καταπολέμησης των διακρίσεων και θητεία σε σχετικές επιτροπές, και σύντομη (1-2 παράγραφοι) επιστολή προθέσεων (letter of intent), που να περιγράφει το ενδιαφέρον του/της αιτούντα/ούσης για συμμετοχή στην ΕΙΦΚΔ, έως και την Δευτέρα 17/11/2025 και ώρα 16:00.

“Nick Kylafis” Distinguished Lecture 2025 at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)

The 7th annual Nick Kylafis Distinguished Lecture will be given for 2025 by the distinguished astrophysicist Roger Blandford, Luke Blossom Professor at Stanford University (USA). Professor Blandford’s lecture, which will follow the public ceremony, will be in English and it is entitled “New Horizons in Extreme Electrodynamics of Black Holes and Neutron Stars”. It will take place on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, at 14.00 at the Central Amphitheater of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), with simultaneous webcast.
