NASA's IXPE Solves Mystery of X-Ray Creation in Black Holes
Recent publication in Astrophysical Journal Letters: New findings by an international team of astrophysicists, based on data collected by IXPE, have revealed the mechanism that creates the bright X-ray radiation, which is associated with the extremely powerful plasma jets that erupt from supermassive black holes.

New distinctions of CeHA at IHE Connectathon 2025
The Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) participated once again in this year’s IHE Connectathon Week, held from June 23–27 in Vienna. This premier event, internationally recognized within the healthcare community, is a cornerstone for interoperability in health information systems. With a strong and consistent presence at the annual IHE Connectathon events, the CeHA team has established itself as a trusted vendor participant, earning official IHE Seals for every profile successfully tested.
Smart Mirrors for healthier lives: MAYA Project launches to support adolescents and young adults after cancer
The MAYA project, acronym of smart Mirrors supporting healthier lives of Adolescents and Young Adults after cancer, has officially held its kick-off meeting in Toledo, Spain, on 25-26 June 2025.Funded under the Horizon Europe - Research and Innovation programme, MAYA is a 4-year project coordinated by the University of Ioannina, Greece, and bringing together a consortium of 16 partners from 11 countries, including both EU countries, and the UK. The consortium represents a diverse group of stakeholders: medical & technological universities, consultancies, foundations, research centers, patient associations, manufacturers of smart mirrors technology.
