"Stelios ORPHANOUDAKIS" Distinguished Lectures "Stelios ORPHANOUDAKIS" Distinguished Lectures are organized every year by one of the Institutes of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), at the headquarters of FORTH in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, in the memory of Stelios Orphanoudakis (1948 - 2005), Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete, Director of the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH (1994-2004), and Chairman of FORTH from 2004 until his premature loss, on the 18th March 2005.

"Nick Kylafis" Distinguished LecturesThe “Nick Kylafis Lectureship” was established in 2019 in order to honor Nick Kylafis, Professor Emeritus at the Dept. of Physics of the Univ. of Crete, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, for his 35 years of scientific contributions and leadership towards the founding and continuous improvement of the astrophysics group at the University of Crete and FORTH. This lifelong commitment has been instrumental in the international recognition of the research activities of the Crete astrophysics group, which led to the creation of the Institute of Astrophysics at FORTH in 2018. Under the auspices of the Lectureship, one distinguished theoretical astrophysicist is invited annually at FORTH for a brief visit

The Onassis Foundation Science Lecture SeriesThe Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) organize an annual series of advanced seminar lectures. The duration of each lecture series is one week. The lectures are held in July, at the headquarters of FORTH in Heraklion, Crete.

Payatakes (1945-2009), Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras, Director of FORTH/ICE-HT (1999-2006), and Chairman of the BoD of FORTH from 2006 until his premature loss, on the 29th November 2009.
