A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on Tuesday 29th of October, by the president of FORTH, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, and the President of the Economic Chamber of Eastern Crete, Mr. Evangelos Glakas. The two organizations aim to leverage the expertise of their scientific teams on issues of common interest concerning the country's social and economic life. This collaboration will focus on joint research activities, educational programs, studies, and events to promote the Digital Economy.

The 14th Scientific Retreat of FORTH took place with great success, on October 11-13 at the Conference Center of the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Ancient Olympia, under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The location of this year’s Retreat, which coincides with an Olympic year, was selected to highlight the close link between research and culture and their mutual contribution to human progress.

On Wednesday, October 23, the Deputy Minister of Development responsible for Research and Innovation, Ms. Zoi Rapti, and the Secretary-General for Research and Innovation, Mr. Tasos Gaitanis, paid an official visit to the facilities of FORTH in Heraklion. They were welcomed by FORTH’s President, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, and members of the Board of Directors.

The 17th International Conference on Laser Ablation (COLA 2024) will take place from September 29 to October 4, 2024, at the Creta Maris Resort Hotel in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece, and is co-organized by the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH).

The vision for FORTH-QuTech is to become a national & international point of reference in quantum science and technologies. This will be achieved by ensuring continuous development of science, technology, expertise, & human capital, attracting high-quality scientific personnel & significant funding.

The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, is organizing the 2024 Researchers’ Night at its premises (Vassilika Vouton, Heraklion), on Friday September 27, 2024, 17:00-23:00.

Το ΔΣ του ΙΤΕ με την υπ΄ αριθ. πρακτικού Συνεδριάσεως 541/43-6/10.9.2024 απόφασή του, αποφάσισε τη διενέργεια εκλογών, με μυστική ψηφοφορία, για την ανάδειξη δύο (2) Ερευνητών – μελών της ειδικής επιτροπής κριτών για την επιλογή Δ/ντή της ΚΔ του ΙΤΕ, και των αναπληρωτών τους.

The 18th EAI International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare will take place at the facilities of FORTH in Heraklion, Crete from 17 to 18 September 2024, with the active participation and co-organization of the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH, and the Center for Research & Technology Hellas.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on September, 7^th, by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, Professor Nektarios Tavernarakis, and the First Vice President of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization-DIMITRA (ELGO-DIMITRA), Professor Nektarios Vidakis.

FORTH had a dynamic presence at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, which took place from 7 to 15 September 2024, with 10 speeches in panel discussions and numerous innovative exhibits, in Pavilion 7 of the Ministry of Development, at the GRSI’s (General Secretariat for Research & Innovation) stand.
