The ceremony of the FORTH Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching "Vassilis XANTHOPOULOS - Stephanos PNEVMATIKOS" will be held at the main Hall of the old Parliament in Athens, on December 07 2016, at 19.00 p.m. The award will be presented by H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos to Mr. Michalis Koutsilieris, Professor of Medicine, University of Athens.

FORTH announced the establishment of a Liaison Office in Brussels which started its operation on November 1st, 2017.

[Athens, October 26, 2017] PRAXI Network, unit of the Foundation for Research & Technology-Hellas (FORTH), and the Secretariat of the ASEM Cooperation Centre for Research, Technology & Innovation (ASEM CCSTI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the aim to promote bilateral dialogue, exchange of experiences and to enhance cooperation for the commercialization of research. The ASEM CCSTI is hosted in the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. The MoU was signed on Thursday, October 26th, between the President of FORTH Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis and Prof. Zhu Shilong, ASEM Secretary General, during an official ceremony held in Beijing.

The President of the European Research Council (ERC), Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, paid his first official visit to Greece and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), in the context of a series of scheduled meetings with ERC Grantees. During his three-day stay at Heraklion, Prof. Bourguignon also met with FORTH’s Chairman and, Member of the ERC Scientific Council, Professor Nektarios Tavernarakis and Members of the Board of Directors of FORTH, as well as with and the Rector of the University of Crete, Professor Odysseas Zoras. In addition, he had the opportunity to visit research laboratories in both Institutions.

Monheim, September 13, 2017 – Bayer and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas in Greece (IMBB-FORTH) today announced the start of a five-year collaborative research project.

Dr. Ioannis Talianidis, Research Director at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of FORTH, was elected Director of the Institute on June 6, 2017. His official appointment is expected in the next few weeks.

Dr. Konstantinos Palikaras, Postdoctoral researcher at IMBB, has been awarded the highly competitive AXA Research Fund postdoctoral Fellowship of 130.000€ to pursue his studies.

The 2017 recipient of the FORTH/ICE-HT "Stratis Sotirchos Lectureship Award" is Dr. Hal Alper, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, USA.
