Awareness Event by the Region of Crete and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in the context of Mental Health Awareness Month
On the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Region of Crete – Gender Equality Office and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) are co-organizing an awareness event focused on the prevention and response to online violence and the protection of the mental health of children and adolescents, on Thursday 22 May 2025, 6:00pm-9:00pm, at the new Science and Cultural Center of the Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas (FORTH), housed in the historic neoclassical building of FORTH, on the corner of Averof & Zografou Street, in the city of Heraklion, Crete.
The event will be held with the support of the Union of Women Associations of Heraklion Prefecture and by A.XE.P.T. (Safe Carefree Children Now).
Welcome addresses will be delivered by:
– Ms. Gogo Milaki, Deputy Regional Governor for Culture and Gender Equality of the Region of Crete
– Professor Dimitris Plexousakis, Vice Chairman of FORTH’s Board of Directors and Director of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS-FORTH)
Presentations will be delivered by:
- Professor Paraskevi Fragopoulou, Coordinator of the Greek Safer Internet Center of FORTH
- Meltini Christodoulaki, Lawyer and Communications Officer of SafeLine
- Nikos Spetsidis, Project Coordinator, Association of Women’s Organizations of Heraklion and Prefecture of Heraklion
- Eleni Gerakaki, Survivor Support Officer, Social Scientist – Mental Health Specialist, Psychotherapist
- Dr. Margarita Gerouki, Teacher and President of A.XE.P.T.
- Dr. George Nakos, Psychologist at the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police
The event is held in the framework of the Region of Crete's campaign “Equality4Crete – Do the Right Thing”, and is part of the Regional Gender Equality Action Plan of Crete 2023–2025.
