Three Prestigious Awards for the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas at the Healthcare Business Awards 2025

FORTH received major distinctions at the Healthcare Business Awards 2025, a prestigious event celebrating excellence, innovation, and best practices across the healthcare sector.

GOLD Award – Development & Innovation
The Hellenic Molecular Oncology Network (EDIMO), established by the Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology of FORTH in June 2022 and operating under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, was honored with the GOLD award.

EDIMO advances cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and personalized care. With 8 participating academic and research institutions and funding from the Recovery Fund, EDIMO provides free biomarker analyses for thousands of patients. Its digital registry, clinical annotation platform, and strict data protection protocols make it a model of modern, sustainable healthcare, seamlessly combining scientific innovation with social responsibility.

GOLD Award – Educational Program for the Public
The Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) received the GOLD award for its defibrillator applications developed under the “ZOI” Program of the Region of Crete. ZOI is Greece’s only comprehensive public AED (Automated External Defibrillator) program, integrating device placement, training, and innovative digital applications that map and provide real-time access to defibrillators. Users can locate the nearest operational AED and receive CPR guidance instantly.

BRONZE Award – Digital Health Solution
The Information Systems Laboratory of FORTH-ICS was honored with the BRONZE award for the HLA S.A.V.E. tool, which facilitates smart search for hematopoietic stem cell donors. Considering the genetic diversity of the Greek population, this tool enhances donor matching for hematologic treatments and organ transplants, improving both cost efficiency and patient outcomes.

The Healthcare Business Awards 2025 ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 18, at the Ethniki Asfalistiki Conference Center, gathering over 450 senior executives, representatives, academics, professionals, and media.

The Healthcare Business Awards aim to highlight and reward initiatives and best practices in healthcare, promoting patient quality of life through innovative technologies advanced healthcare solutions, and modern approaches to prevention and treatment.
