The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), are co-organizing a two-day event, entitled “Crete and the Sea.”

The opening event will take place on Monday, 9 February 2026, at 18:00, in the “Kastellaki” Hall at the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce & Industry, where citizens and local stakeholders will have the opportunity to be informed about the work carried out at the two Research Centers.

The Scientific Workshop will be held on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, from 10:00 to 17:30, at the HCMR Amphitheatre at CRETAquarium, in Gournes, Heraklion (https://cretaquarium.gr/).

The event aims to present activities related to Crete, the sea, and Blue Growth by research groups from FORTH and HCMR, enabling the scientific community to become better acquainted with the research activities of the two Centers. Moreover, this initiative aims to promote and expand interdisciplinary collaborations and strengthen the recognition of the Region of Crete as a hub of Research, Innovation, and Development.
