A century of light
The Natural History Museum of Crete is organizing three events under the title “A century of light”, for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the electrification of the city of Heraklion. The first event is organized in collaboration with the Institute of Astrophysics of FORTH.
Lecture by Antonis Anastasopoulos, Yannis Spyropoulos and Petros Kastrinakis
The Municipality of Rethymnon and the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) are organizing for the year 2025 a series of lectures addressed to the general public of Rethymnon. In these talks, open to everyone, the Institute's researchers will present elements of their research work in an accessible way, followed by a discussion. The events will take place at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies in the old town, 130 Nikiforou Fokas and Melissinou.
The sixth lecture titled "Crete in the Ottoman Era", will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 19.30 by Antonis Anastasopoulos, Yannis Spyropoulos and Petros Kastrinakis.
14th Distinguished Lecture “Alkiviades Ch. Payatakes”
The 14th Distinguished Lecture "Alkiviades Ch. Payatakes" of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH/ICE-HT), took place on Monday, December 15, 2025 at the institute's conference center and it is open to the public.
“Alkiviades Ch. Payatakes” Distinguished Lectures are organized every year by FORTH/ICE-HT in Patras, to honor the memory of A. C. Payatakes (1945-2009), Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras, Director of ICE-HT (1999-2006), and Chairman of FORTH from 2006 until his passing, on the 29th November 2009.
Book Presentation: Christina Agriantoni, Hermoupolis of Syros, 1823-1940. An early industrial city in the Aegean Sea
The presentation of Christina Agriantoni’s book “Hermoupolis of Syros, 1823–1940. An Early Industrial City in the Aegean Sea” will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 19:30, in the Lecture Hall of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies in Rethymno.

The Hellenic Digital Health Cluster–HDHC is organizing an event titled “Building Synergies in Digital Health – Powered by HDHC", dedicated to showcasing ongoing EU-funded initiatives and collaborations in digital health led by innovative organisations based in Crete. Lecture by Nasos Argyriou: "Natural hazards threatening the cultural heritage of Rethymno"

The forth lecture titled "Natural hazards threatening the cultural heritage of Rethymno", will take place on Monday, November 7, 2025 at 19.00 by Dr. Nasos Argyriou, Assistant Researcher at the Laboratory of Geophysical - Satellite Remote Sensing and Archaeo-environment, of IMS-FORTH.
“Nick Kylafis” Distinguished Lecture 2025 at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)
The 7th annual Nick Kylafis Distinguished Lecture will be given for 2025 by the distinguished astrophysicist Roger Blandford, Luke Blossom Professor at Stanford University (USA).
Professor Blandford’s lecture, which will follow the public ceremony, will be in English and it is entitled “New Horizons in Extreme Electrodynamics of Black Holes and Neutron Stars”. It will take place on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, at 14.00 at the Central Amphitheater of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), with simultaneous webcast.
“Living in Space” event in the framework of the World Space Week celebration
In the framework of the World Space Week celebration, the Institute of Astrophysics of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, in collaboration with the Astronomy Club of the Students of the University of Crete, and the science communication group Periastron are organizing an event (in Greek) at FORTH’s new Science and Cultural Center, located on the corner of Averof & Zografou Streets in Heraklion, Crete. The event will take place on Monday October 20, 2025, from 18:00 to 21:00 and will be open to the public while the event’s activities will be suitable for people aged 6 and above.
14th International Conference on Knowledge Graphs (IJCKG 2025)
The 14th International Conference on Knowledge Graphs (IJCKG 2025) will be held from Wednesday, October 15 to Friday, October 17, 2025, at the G. Lianis Amphitheater, located on the premises of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The central theme of this year’s conference is “Knowledge Graphs and Large Language Models (LLMs)”, focusing on the exploration of the intersection between these two cutting-edge research areas and the opportunities for their integration.
European Research Council: Webinar on funding opportunities for researchers in Greece
