Professor Athanasios Nenes, Affiliated Scientist of ICEHT, selected as a Highly Cited Researcher by WoS, for the year 2022

Athanasios Nenes, Affiliated Scientist of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, Coordinating Member of the Center for the Study of Air Quality and Climate Change (C-STACC) and Professor at the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, EPFL, in Lausanne, Switzerland, has been named as one of the most cited researchers worldwide, according to this year’s “Highly Cited Researchers” list from Clarivate, based on the widely recognized Web of Science database. The annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their field (top 1%) through their publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.

Professor Nenes and his research group explores the impacts of aerosols and clouds on climate, health and ecosystems through a combination of theory, instrument development, measurements, and modelling. He has received numerous distinctions, including the Copernicus Medal, an ERC Consolidator Grant, the Ascent Award from AGU Atmospheric Sciences, the Whitby Award and Friedlander Award from the American Association for Aerosol Research, and the Houghton Award from the American Meteorological Society. Nenes is a member of the Academia Europaea and a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the American Association for Aerosol Research.
