New distinctions of CeHA at IHE Connectathon 2025

The Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) participated once again in this year’s IHE Connectathon Week, held from June 23–27 in Vienna. This premier event, internationally recognized within the healthcare community, is a cornerstone for interoperability in health information systems.

With a strong and consistent presence at the annual IHE Connectathon events, the CeHA team has established itself as a trusted vendor participant, earning official IHE Seals for every profile successfully tested.

This year’s participating team included the following members:

  • Georgios Kavlentakis, Team Coordinator, Innovation and Application Development Department, CeHA
  • Ioannis Petrakis, Senior Software Engineer, Interoperability Expert, CeHA
  • Eleftherios Galanos, Senior Software Engineer, Interoperability Specialist, CeHA

The main objective of this year’s participation was to obtain IHE Connectathon Seals for a set of IHE FHIR Profiles. The CeHA systems were successfully tested against several new FHIR-related profiles and roles, and according to the official results announced on September 8th 2025 by IHE, they acquired 8 new corresponding Seals/Credentials, raising the total number of official credentials to 23.

In addition to testing new profiles, the team also contributed to the testing of previously certified profiles, specifically CT, PIX, PDQ, XDS-SD, and PIXv3, successfully renewing the relevant Statements of Success (SEALS).

The valuable experience and expertise gained through testing with vendors from around the globe and aligning with international standards (IHE, FHIR) will be directly applied to further strengthen the Integrated Care Solutions (ICS) platform developed by CeHA—bringing significant enhancements to its interoperability capabilities.

According to Dimitrios Katehakis, Head of CeHA, "Obtaining the IHE Connectathon Seals is an external confirmation of the quality of CeHA's work, enhancing the credibility of its products and ensuring the compatibility of its software with internationally accepted workflows and European interoperability policies in health".
