Celebrating Stem Cell Awareness Week: Informational Event

For the ninth consecutive year, the Public Cord Blood Bank of Crete (PCBBC), part of the Hematology Clinic of PAGNI, organized Stem Cell Awareness Week, held from 10–14 November 2025, in alignment with World Cord Blood Day on November 15.

As part of the celebrations, an informative event took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Science and Cultural Center of FORTH in the center of Heraklion. The event was organised by the Public Cord Blood Bank of Crete in collaboration with the Medical School of the University of Crete and the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH.

The program featured a presentation by Professor Eleni Papadaki, Dean of the Medical School of the University of Crete, Professor of Hematology, and Director of the Hematology Clinic of PAGNI. Professor Papadaki highlighted the impactful work of the Public Cord Blood Bank of Crete in both healthcare and research, as well as the future prospects for its development, emphasizing the vital role of cord blood in advancing medical treatments and scientific knowledge.

The event successfully raised awareness of stem cell research, fostered collaboration among scientific institutions, and engaged the public in understanding the life-saving potential of cord blood.
