The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, organized the 2025 Researchers’ Night on Friday September 26, 2025, 17:00-23:00, simultaneously at two locations: at its central premises in Heraklion (100 N. Plastira Street, Vassilika Vouton) and at the premises of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of FORTH, in Rethymno (130 Nikiforou Foka Street).

During the event, visitors had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science, research, and technology through a wide range of activities taking place in both cities.

Rethymnon – Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS-FORTH)

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS-FORTH) in Rethymno opened its doors for Researcher’s Night on Friday, September 26, at 17:00, inviting the public to an event dedicated to science, technology, and culture, bringing together people of all ages.

• Journey into the Past: exploration of ancient environments through photographic material and screenings, as well as digital technology activities
• Science for Children: presentation of the imaginative comic “The Magic Hourglass”, dedicated to coastal and underwater archaeology
• SeaLiT Board Game: exploring the maritime history of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea
• Meet the Institute: history of the IMS building and the research developed within it
• Conversations with Researchers: direct contact and discussions with the scientific staff of IMS-FORTH

*For visitors’ convenience, the Heraklion Urban Bus Company included FORTH premises in its regular route No. 11 University Hospital (PAGNI) – UNIVERSITY OF CRETE, from 16:15 to 18:30, departing every 15 minutes from the starting point. Also, buses were departing from FORTH towards Heraklion city centre, at 22:00, 22:30, 23:15
