Social Computing for Smart Cities Open Event and Summer School at FORTH

The Institute of Computer Science of FORTH (ICS/FORTH) hosts an open public event, on Wednesday 27 June, 10:30-12.30, at its campus in Heraklion Crete, entitled “Social Computing for Smart Cities”, in the context of the EC-funded project NOTRE – Network for Social Computing Research.

The NOTRE project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and brings together the team from the multidisciplinary Social Computing Research Centre (SCRC) located in Cyprus with four internationally-leading counterparts in Europe (FORTH-ICS, Greece; iMdea, Spain; MIRALab, Switzerland; University of Dusseldorf, Germany). It aims to develop a network that will strengthen and enhance the research and innovation potential and capability of the newly established Social Computing Research Centre(SCRC) at the Cyprus University of Technology(CUT, coordinator) for stimulating scientific excellence and innovation capacity in the area of Social Computing.

Examples of social computing applications for smart cities will be presented, along with the results of the project so far.

In the same context, theHuman-Computer Interaction Lab of ICS is organising the Summer School “Social Computing for Smart Cities”, 25 - 29 June 2018. The event features speakers from international institutions including Google UK, iMdea Networks Madrid, the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH (ICS-FORTH), the University of Düsseldorf (UDUS), The University Carlos 3rd of Madrid (UC3M) and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
