A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas (FORTH) and the European University of Cyprus (EUC)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas (FORTH) and the European University of Cyprus (EUC) was signed on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, by the President of FORTH, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis and the Rector of the EUC, Prof. Kostas Gouliamos.

The two Institutions will collaborate in areas of common interest with the use of infrastructure and exchange of know-how, participation in research proposals, organization of joint scientific activities such as workshops, seminars, conferences and exchange of teachers, researchers, scientific associates and students with a goal to maximize the potential of their scientific work. The aim of this cooperation is to promote the research and educational work of the two Institutions, to develop broader partnerships, and to strengthen the contribution of the Institutions to the development of the society on a local, regional, national and European level, as well as to support the mission and the role of Greek and Cypriot Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers.

Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the BoD of FORTH, said: "The signing of the (MoU) between the Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas and the European University of Cyprus aims to strengthen communication channels between the scientific communities of Greece and Cyprus. This cooperation paves the way for joint actions and provides ample opportunities for scientific interaction and fruitful collaborations between the two Institutions."

The Rector of the European University of Cyprus, Prof. Kostas Gouliamos, said that "the MoU is a very good starting point for cooperation between two pioneering organizations - the European University of Cyprus and the Foundation for Research and Technology- Hellas. Both organizations are proven pillars of excellence and innovation with international and European recognition. Through this agreement, we unite our forces, creating added value for our societies, with a multiplier effect not only on a scientific and social level but also in the areas of the economy of knowledge and culture. Undoubtedly, with this cooperation agreement, we are creating the right conditions for a new scientific and productive model in Greece and Cyprus."
