First Award to ORamaVR and FORTH, in one of the the world's largest International Virtual and Augmented Reality Exhibitions
“ORamaVR”, a start-up of FORTH, was awarded the First Prize in the category “Technology with the Best Societal Impact”, in the Augmented World Expo 2019 (AWE 2019), one of the world’s largest exhibitions in virtual and augmented reality, held in Santa Clara, California on 28-31 May 2019(https://www.awexr.com/usa-2019). ORamaVR was awarded for their innovative software developed for the experiential training of surgeons in virtual reality. It is worth noting that it was the first time that a Greek start-up company participated in this exhibition.
" It is yet another great worldwide recognition of the VR medical Education of ORamaVR. Amongst the two hundred companies competing for these awards, winners in other categories include industry leading companies such as Facebook (Snap) and Magic Leap. For a European startup is important to be included amongst such VR/AR leaders "said Professor George Papagiannakis, ORamaVR Co-Founder and CEO/CTO.
About: ORamaVR (www.oramavr.com) is a VR simulation startup for experiential accelerated learning through exponential technologies. Our beach-head market is medical VR, where we transform medical education (knowledge) and training (skills), through innovative virtual reality simulation and skill transfer from the virtual to the real operating room, reducing errors and improving patient outcomes. To realize this, we have created our deep, unmatched, proprietary, psychomotor, gamified and multiuser VR software platform. ORamaVR has been awarded in 2018 the prestigious FARE award, together with NYU, from the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
