Successful participation of FORTH‐ICS members and associates at the 1st Athens Health Datathon

The first Health Datathon organized by the Athens Medical Society, the Open Technologies Alliance and the Hellenic Society of eHealth Services and Education, started on May 16th and was successfully concluded on May 18th 2019.

The MedIcatioN mIsuse iN old aGe" (MINING) team, composed of members and associates of FORTH‐ICS (Foundation for Research & Technology Hellas - Institute of Computer Science), participated in the event and received the first impact award for its project on "Potentially inappropriate prescription of medicines to the elderly". MINING team members were: Dr. Aggelina Kouroubali (collaborating researcher at the Computational BioMedicine Lab of FORTH‐ICS), Dr. George Notas (Assistant Professor at the Medical School of UOC), Mr. Ioannis Petrakis and Mr. Nikolaos Tselas (both software engineers at the Center of eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) at FORTH-ICS).

 

During the event that took place at the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the teams had the support of 13 mentors, including Mr. Dimitrios Katehakis, head of CeHA.

Awards were given to the winning teams during the closing ceremony of the 45th Annual Panhellenic Medical Conference of Athens Medical Society, on May 18, 2019.
