Mr. Nicos Hadjinicolaou, professor of the University of Crete and researcher of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of FORTH receives the HERDER prize for 2006
The prize has been presented to personalities such as music composers Sandor Kanyadi and Krzysztof Penderecki, writers Ismail Kadare and Milan Kundera, philosopher Roman Ingarden, director Andrei Wajda and art historians Ian Bialostotski and Anton Pigler. Greeks awarded with this prize include Manolis Andronikos, K. T. Dimaras, Ioannis Kakridis, Emmanouil Kriaras, Manousos Manousakas, Spiridon Marinatos, Anastasios Orlandos, Dimitrios Pallas, Konstantinos Tripanis and Manolis Hadjidakis.
The awarding ceremony will take place at 11 o' clock on Friday, May 5, in the ceremony hall of the University of Vienna. The prize will be presented by the Rector of the University, prof. Georg Winckler.
