About the organization: The Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) is a leading research institute within the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH). FORTH is one of the largest research centers in Greece and encompasses a wide array of disciplines. IESL focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of photonics, quantum optics, nanoscience, and laser technology. With a commitment to scientific excellence and innovation, IESL plays a pivotal role in advancing knowledge and technology in Greece and internationally.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with documented experience or ability to learn in order to join our dynamic team at IESL - FORTH. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the institute and provide strategic financial guidance and organization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement financial plans, and policies to support the institute's objectives and mission.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the management team and IESL director.
• Supervise accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial processes and support strategic initiatives.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of finance principles and regulations.
• Excellent organization skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills, digital book-keeping and financial analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Leadership and ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English language.
