May 27, 2013The paper entitled "Programming Smart Object Federations for Simulating and Implementing Ambient Intelligence Scenarios", presented by Ioannis Georgalis, PhD Candidate at the University of Crete and member of the HCI Laboratory of ICS-FORTH, received the Best Student Paper Award at the 3rd International Conference on Pervasive and Embedded Computing and Communications Systems (PECCS 2013, Barcelona, Spain 19-21 February 2013).

A full laser treatment has been provided to an old painting
Apr 09, 2013Within the last month a thorough laser treatment has been performed to a painted panel by the research groups of the Photonics for Cultural Heritage activity of IESL-FORTH. The painting, which was “excavated” from the storage of the conservation laboratories of the National Gallery in London, is traveling around Europe in order to be examined by the latest developments in instrumentation and methodologies as regards scientific conservation of Cultural Heritage assets.
